Parish Amenities:
There are a number of parish amenities that the parish council manages, such as:
Play Areas and Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs)
Public Open Spaces
Allotments

*The Parish Council owns two village halls; however, these buildings are leased to management committees (Please see the village hall section below for more information).
Play Areas and MUGAs:
The parish council currently manages six play areas across the parish area. The play areas and MUGAs are regularly maintained and inspected on a weekly basis to ensure they are safe. A quarterly written Play Area inspection is also undertaken by a ROSPA-trained inspector, and they are inspected independently once a year by ROSPA. The play areas and MUGAs the parish council maintains are as follows:

Hornchurch Road Play Area and MUGA
*Kestrel Court Play Area and Half MUGA
*Berryfield Play Area
Whitworth Play Area (Berryfield)
Bowerhill Sports Field Basketball Court
*Both Berryfield and Kestrel Court Play Areas are leased by the parish council from Wiltshire Council.
The parish council is soon due to adopt the Davey Play Area, which is located in the new Pathfinder Place development.
Allotments:
The parish council manages two allotment sites in Berryfield, known as Berryfield and Briansfield. There are approximately 70 plots across both of our allotment sites.

Bowerhill Jubilee Sports Field:
The parish council manages and maintains the Bowerhill Jubilee Sports Field. Please follow the below link for more information on how you can book the pavilion and field facilities.

Shurnhold Fields:
Shurnhold Fields Country Park is a public open space and is located on Dunch Lane in Melksham. Shurnhold Fields is jointly owned by Melksham Without Parish Council and Melksham Town Council and is maintained by a fantastic group of volunteers known as the Friends of Shurnhold Fields. At the open space, there are a number of benches for people to sit and rest, as well as a World War One memorial wood, with each circular wood representing each year of the war. There is also an orchard area where rare English types of apples and pears are being grown.
Village Halls:
Shaw Village Hall and Playing Fields (commonly known as the Beeches):
The parish council owns Shaw Village Hall and Playing Fields; however, it is leased to the Shaw Management Committee. This fantastic committee manages the day-to-day running of the hall and has many regular hirers. The village hall has a website where you can make bookings online. Berryfield Village Hall:
Berryfield Village Hall is located on Telford Drive in the new Bowood View housing development. As part of the Section 106 agreement for the development, there was provision in place for a new community hall. Rigg Construction was appointed as the main contractor for the project, with lots of local trades and materials used along the way. Construction of the hall started on site in January 2022, with the hall being handed over to the parish council on 5th September 2022. Like with Shaw Village Hall, the parish council owns the building but has leased the hall to the Berryfield Village Hall Trust to run on a day-to-day basis. The 125-year lease was signed on 21st February 2023, with the hall opening to users on 22nd February 2023. Since the hall's opening, it has been busy with lots of regular bookings.
