Call for Brownfield Sites & Employment Land

Supporting Melksham's Future Growth Call for Brownfield Sites and Employment Land Opportunities

Melksham's Joint Neighbourhood Plan continues to play an important role in shaping the future of the town, helping to ensure that growth supports not only housing and infrastructure needs but also a strong and sustainable local economy. As work progresses on future planning policies, it is important that potential development opportunities are identified and understood at an early stage. One of the strengths of the Joint Neighbourhood Plan has been its focus on making effective use of previously developed land. Through the plan, sites such as the former library, Cooper Tires and Whitley Farm have been identified as opportunities for redevelopment and regeneration.

With Wiltshire Council now seeking evidence for the next Local Plan, Melksham Town Council and Melksham Without Parish Council are keen to build on this approach by identifying further brownfield sites and employment land opportunities that could support jobs, investment and sustainable economic growth. Melksham Town Council and Melksham Without Parish Council are therefore inviting businesses, landowners, developers and organisations to put forward sites that may have the potential for redevelopment or future use.

This includes:

Land or premises that could support employment uses, business expansion or commercial development.
Mixed-use opportunities that could contribute to job creation and economic growth.
Other sites that may help strengthen Melksham's economy and support future investment.

Identifying these opportunities at an early stage will help ensure they can be considered as planning policies and priorities are developed. Submitting a site does not imply that development will take place, but it enables potential opportunities to be assessed and understood as part of the evidence-gathering process.
